Well, this blog isn’t just about Doctor Who, you know. It’s also about video games, and there have been a lot of exciting announcements made at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, that is going on now in Los Angeles.
During Nintendo’s press conference yesterday, there was one announcement in particular that caught my attention. Reggie had the stage, and confirmed a new game in a franchise that has been long awaiting a new installment.
Beyond that trailer, not much is known about this new game. We don’t know whether this follows from the conclusion of Golden Sun:The Lost Age or if it is its own new story. But there has been some artwork revealed, which features two characters that resemble Garet and Isaac.
No release date has been mentioned for the game, but I’m expecting (and hoping) for a 2010 release. Golden Sun and The Lost Age remain two of my favorite RPGs from any console. I remember getting the first game (it was one of the launch titles for the Game Boy Advance system), and being simply amazed by the graphics, the music, the story, and the gameplay. The first game was simply perfect, albeit a bit short, and the “To Be Continued” at the end had me anxious to play the sequel. TLA definitely lived up to, even surpassed, the original.
Now, the original GS ended with the option of saving clear data, which, as it turned out later, could be imported to TLA in order to maintain your character stats and data when starting the sequel. TLA ended with the same option, so I’ve been wondering, ever since, if we’ll be able to import data from TLA to the third game. We’ll have to wait and find out.
Anyway, I’m really excited about this announcement!
